Starting a Small Business
Posted by IMAP on 02/27/09 in Business
I am planning on opening a small book store and café within the year. It has been my dream for just about as long as I can remember. I finally saved up enough money to feel secure quitting my job to open my own business. Unfortunately, I am discovering that the nuts and bolts of owning my own business can be pretty tedious. All of the paperwork involved in getting a small business loan was enough to drive me crazy. Now, I’m dealing with business accounts, a credit merchant account, retail merchant accounts, and things like credit and check payment processing.
Half of the time I feel that I am in way over my head. I have to deal with these things though. There is no way that I can run a business without being about to accept credit cards. Plus, it’s a whole other ball game if I decide that I want to sell anything online. Right now, I am working on my website. It’s informational only. You cannot buy anything on it. You actually have to come into the shop. I don’t know how much of a negative impact this will have on sales but it will have to do for the time being. I really cannot handle anything new right now.
