For the past couple of years, I have been working at a retail store, stocking the shelves at night.  Though some people don’t like working at night, it works well for us as I can work fulltime at night and my wife can work fulltime during the day.  I am not saying that it is the best situation for a married couple, but we decided that we would try this for a stretch so that we can afford the down payment on a house.

One of my favorite things about the job that I am doing is that I get to work on my own, at my own pace and don’t really have any customer interaction.  I used to work in customer service and I used to come home with a headache every night.  I love what I do now a lot more.

In fact, the last couple of nights, I have been stocking tanning lotion on the shelves and it has been really relaxing.  You wouldn’t think that stocking suntan lotion would take all night, but it has been really hot outside, and it has been very popular.

I think both of us are going to work fulltime for the next six months or so, and then we should have enough money saved to buy a house.  Though we are tired most of the time, the goal of owning a house is worth it, and it is a small sacrifice.
