5 Key Steps to Frugal Living

frugal-livingFrugal living is an excellent way to reduce stress in your life since most of our stress comes from financial concerns. If you’re interested in starting to live frugally, here are the five key things that you need to do to get started:

  1. Deal with your debt. Figure out how to pay off all personal loans. Look into debt consolidation. Take care of the bills that you’ve got hanging over your head.
  2. Create a budget and stick to it. The only way to make sure that you aren’t spending more than you’re making is to learn to live by a budget.
  3. Buy bargains. When you are spending within that budget, do so with some brains. Use coupons and shop for deals to spend less.
  4. Ask yourself if purchases are worth it. Before buying anything, get in the habit of asking yourself if the purchase is going to add any stress to your life (it will!) and whether that stress is worth the rewards of the purchase.
  5. Start making things yourself. To spend less, you might want to make more. You can make your own soap, blankets, candles and more. You can also grow your own food to save money.

Learning to do these five things will put you well on your way to a frugal life.

I have been in debt pretty much since I turned 18. I told myself I would never get a credit card because I knew I would just screw myself with it which I did end up doing. I have everything from medical bills, car payments, and house payments. This blog gave me some really good informmation on how to take care of my bills and budget my money. Thank you

I never ever used to shop for bargins. I would buy clothes that were not on sale, food that wasnt on sale I just did not care. Now I am the bargin queen. I get good deals on alot of stuff because I look for them. If you dont want to spend alot of money you have to look for the bargins.

I used to live paycheck to paycheck because I never created a budget for myself. I would get my paycheck and spend it within a week. I have learned to budget my money. I now have money saved in my account. It is so nice to have money when I need it and now I am not living paycheck to paycheck.

I just bought an areogarden to grow my own spices for cooking. I just thought instead of spending money on all these spices I need for cooking why not grow them? Spices are so much better when they are homegrown and fresh. I also save alot of money!

I have to watch what I spend my money on for the first time in my life. I am 23 and just bought my first house. I thought it was going to be easier than it is. When I go to the store or shopping I really have to think if I buy something. I have to think if it is worth the money and If I will really use the product. This has helped me save alot of money because most of the time I dont really need what I am looking to buy.

Creating a budget for my family and me has been the best thing I have ever done. My family would spend money like it grows on trees. I finally made a budget for my kids and my husband and we are saving so much money. If you have kids and a husband that thinks money just grows everywhere then I would make a budget for them, it really works.
