Managing A Credit Card

When I first received my credit card in the mail I must admit I was rather naïve about the responsibility I was taking on. It seemed so easy to just go out and spend; after all I really didn’t keep track of receipts or the number of purchases that I was making. I guess I just rationalized that I had unlimited time to pay it off as long as I was making the minimum required monthly payment. Sure, I could do that, after all the chart showed that it would only be a couple hundred dollars a month, even if I maxed out the card all in one fell swoop.
Well, that is exactly what I did. I seemed to find a whole bunch of things that all of a sudden I absolutely had to have or I simply couldn’t function. What I didn’t realize is that the interest was added onto that balance and continued to grow even after I could no longer use the card. If I hadn’t done some research and found out about debt consolidation through using a cash advance program to make payments on time I might never had managed to pay off the card since the interest kept building. Now I know to limit my spending to what I can pay every month, which means that my interest payments are very low and I can effectively manage my account without getting into debt.
