Tricked into meditation

When my wife started meditating, I really didn’t know what to think of it.  After all, while it couldn’t do any harm, what good could come out of it?  I told her I thought it was a huge waste of time and that if she wanted some alone time why not take a bath?  That way she would not only be relaxing but getting clean at the same time.  My humour and opinions were not appreciated, by any means.

When she told me that I just didn’t understand, she was completely right.  I didn’t “get” meditation.  I’m stubborn so when she told me I would never get it, I knew I had to prove her wrong.  So I picked up a book and CD on guided mediation and got down to it.

Now, I know that proving my wife wrong really isn’t the best way to get into mediation, but I have to tell you, it sure worked for me!  Once I started the guided breathing exercises I was hooked.  I couldn’t believe how relaxed and just over all healthy I felt afterwards.  When I proudly told my wife that yes, I could get mediation, she laughed.  Her reversed psychology trick had worked.
