Three Myths About New England Bed and Breakfasts
Posted by IMAP on 11/14/08 in Hospitality
Have you always wanted to stay at a bed and breakfast in New England, but heard some rather disturbing things about them? Well, chances are that those weird rumors you heard were just that-rumors. The fact is New England bed and breakfasts are your best bet for lodging in the New England area. Let’s break some of those myths in half.
Bed and breakfasts are expensive. Not necessarily true. Okay, perhaps some of the really ritzy ones are, but there are plenty of New Hampshire inns, for example, that are very reasonably priced. In fact, if you do your research, you will see that the majority of B&Bs costs are very competitive with hotel prices in the area.
You will have to sit with strangers at breakfast. The great thing about bed and breakfasts is that they are personal. Most B&Bs welcome reasonable requests. If you would rather enjoy your breakfast alone, you can always request to have meals served in your room.
No Privacy. Many people are under the impression that bed and breakfasts are cramped. You are forced to share a bathroom with strangers, or you have to sit down and make small talk with the innkeeper. This could not be further from the truth. Most B&Bs are very private. In fact, you can go an entire day without seeing one other guest.
So, go ahead! Make a reservation at that cozy Massachusetts bed and breakfast you always wanted to visit. You won’t be sorry.
