With Internet marketing, just like with traditional marketing, good writing is important.  Whether we are talking about the copy on your website, your blog, marketing articles, or press releases, these are things that represent your company online.  If the writing is crappy, customers will notice, believe me!  Therefore it is, as always, extremely importat that the writers you hire are good at what they do.

Another element you might want to consider is either hiring writers who know something about your industry, or who are open to researching it.  For instance, if your business sells boat accessories and marine parts, you want someone who can write intelligently on the subject — someone who will represent your company well.

Unfortunately, it seems like many businesses don’t get this.  I frequently see businesses with websites, press releases, and marketing articles that make me cringe because of how poorly they are written.  If your writer doesn’t know how to properly conjugate a verb or what a past participle is, you might not be getting your money’s worth out of them — no matter how little you are paying them!

So do the best thing for your company’s online reputation and always hire writers who know what they are doing!
