Writing Marketing Articles: My Experiences
Posted by IMAP on 02/5/08 in Marketing
A little while back, I experimented with writing my own marketing articles to market my company. Marketing articles are informational articles that you submit to websites called article directories; readers can reproduce the articles for free, so long as they keep your promotional blurb — called a “resource box” — intact.
These articles are often part of a consulting company’s Internet marketing services. The company produces so many articles for you per week or month, maintaining a steady flow of new links to your site. Theoretically this gets you higher search engine rankings by making your site seem more important.
Many online marketing companies offer what they call link popularity services or link building services, which often includes article marketing. However, I decided to try to go it alone. Unfortunately, I wrote only about a handful of articles before I gave up — they were often tedious to write and difficult to find time for, especially considering most of my time was taken up running my business.
Next time I’ll hire a link building expert, and stick to doing what I do best: running my business.
