The Economy Hits the Well-Off, Too

My poor friend has found herself in the strangest situation. After being married and buying a nice expensive house with a pool and Wall fountains in the toniest of neighborhoods, she “luckily” got the house after then getting divorced.  Oh, she paid off her spouse to get it, and she really worked hard to make the payments on such a big house, but it just didn’t pay to sell it right then.

And then the economy began to crash.  And then her dog got ahold of rat poison and had very high vet bills, and then she had a foundation leak…and then she lost her job.  To say that her house was upside-down was an understatement.  Her line of credit was cut off.  She got pregnant but lost it and needed a special procedure that wasn’t covered by insurance.  All the outdoor garden wall fountains couldn’t relieve the situation.

I’m sure a lot of people have bad situations, and she’s squeaking through with a new job that barely gets her by; many people might be unsympathetic when they see the house she still lives in.  It is unfathomable how hard this economy is hammering people from all walks of life.
