A Lifetime of Fly Fishing

Hank Weller learned about fly fishing early. He was only 7 when he went on his first trout fishing trip. Although he didn’t catch a fish that time, it was memorable because he fell into the cold, cold water. Even though he was okay, he would never forget that. Over the years, Hank pursued his interest, and though he never got to teach others on a professional basis, has befriended many a Georgia fly fishing guide during his time.

For the past 20 years, he built and maintained boats for the use in trout fishing in Georgia. This was also his passion, so during off times, Hank would go out on the boats himself and catch trout and bass. It was a good job, and with his catches he could also put food on the table for his family. The fish weren’t affected as people were during tough economic times. At least Hank would have something to fall back on and he could feed his wife and 3 kids with delicious fish from the Toccoa River.
