Text STOP to End Reverse SMS Billing

Have you ever received a text message that was unsolicited? Perhaps it was from someone offering you a service or advertising something to you. If so then you might have been concerned that you would have to pay for receiving that message. Whether or not you did depends a lot on what kind of text message plan you have on your phone. In some cases, however, it may have less to do with your plan than the type of message that you receive.
A lot of people accidentally sign up for services that do reverse SMS billing. This means that they get a service which charges them when the message is received. Daily news alerts or weather reports are examples of this type of a service. Signing up for ringtones that keep being delivered daily is another thing you might be billed for.
People who didn’t know that they were signing up for this typically get frustrated about being billed. However, it’s usually really easy to terminate these services. You often only have to text the word “stop” to the number that sent the message and then the service is ended. Otherwise, you can call the company and ask to end your service.
